Case turned 9 months last month. It's flown by! Can you tell I'm having more trouble getting him to look at the camera now?
So I survived graduate school. Trying to survive being a wife, mom, and chemistry professor. I know I'm still a chemistry nerd that sometimes teeters too close to the stress. What better way to deal than to blog?

9 Months
Case turned 9 months last month. It's flown by! Can you tell I'm having more trouble getting him to look at the camera now?
My Family the Paparazzi
When it comes to taking pictures, my family has that down pat.
Check out this video from Pburg where we were trying to get Fall pictures of Casen.

Casen Laughing
This video might be my favorite one of Casen so far. It was taken early last month. He still can get going like this. I love to see and hear him laugh.
Our Son the Center of Attention
So lately its becoming more obvious that Casen is an extrovert. He's quite the social baby. We will be sitting in a restaurant, and he will start smiling and talking to strangers. Especially if they are NOT talking to him or looking at him - he thinks they need to be. So at the Homecoming parade last month, we three ended up riding on the float the last half. Casen was in Heaven. I think he thought the parade was for him. He liked all the people waving and cheering. Casen flashed his smile at people making them wave and cheer more. He waved back some too.
Lab Plans Go Awry
So my advanced inorganic chemistry class is finally able to do experiments in our new lab. I have all these great cobalt coordination complexes synthesis labs plans. Very fun stuff. Colorful crystals. Lots of chemicals. And we're going to connect it all to symmetry at the end! (See prior post for a symmetry entry : )
But we haven't had much luck so far. For the first experiment, sulfuric acid got added instead of hydrochloric acid. And let that be a lesson for all of you who aspire to be chemists: the acid type does make a difference.
The next experiment has had some problems, but we are slowly maybe figuring out what to do.
One group did make some lovely emerald green crystals.
We spent Wednesday in lab "housekeeping" - trying to "fix" all our reactions that went awry. I felt like I was back in grad school. You can plan, but science doesn't always do what you think it should. Part of the fun is trying to figure out why and how to fix it...or finding a use for what you did make.
I told my students that I'm training them for grad school. Haha.

Homecoming WalkAround

These are pictures from WalkAround at HOmecoming last month. We ran into our friends Seungeun, Youngho, and Aiden. They took pictures of us. We also got to see some friends who used to live in Stillwater. Since Angie and Brian have moved, they've had a son Silas. It was good to catch up with them and meet their little boy. It was a nice surprise to see all our friends.

A Reason Why I Am Loving Being Back In The College Setting
I was just walking back to my office, and I overheard a guy in the hall on the phone. He says into the phone, "So, uh, my brothers and I got tickets to see the Thunder play tonight...yeah, and uh, well, we have an extra ticket...so, uh, would you like to go to the game?"
I had to smile when I realized he was trying to ask a girl out on the phone.
It made me think back to Josh and me dating here at OC 9 years ago. Happy times.
Whoa! Now I feel old saying that it was that long ago!

Updates, Updates, Updates!
We've accepted an offer on our house! We are in the process of going through the inspection and appraisal.
We went house-hunting this past weekend. It was a whirlwind trip. 9 houses on Saturday, 4 houses on Sunday. We made an offer on one of them, and it was accepted! We now are in the process of going through inspection and appraisal there too.
In less than a month, we could be moved. Which is exciting and scary. When am I suppossed to pack?
Also, Casen's two top front teeth came in last night. His bottom two front teeth are in fully now I think. The only way I can see the two top teeth is when I hang him upside down playing with him. We haven't been quick enough with the camera yet to snap it before he stops laughing. Hopefully, I'll get a picture soon of his toothers!

My New Digs
Parade
While we were waiting for the parade to start, Casen enjoyed watching the marching band, dogs, and horses. Casen rode in his stroller for part of the parade while I helped to pass out candy to the kids. Then Case was getting ansy, so Josh put us two on the truck bed while Josh rode next to the Baylor Bear. Case liked seeing everybody - he would smile real big at people. He's so social!
We saw a lot of friends at the parade. Our friends Aaron and Crystal were back from India and were seated on top of the old theater. We got to see our three little friends too: Micah, Marcel, and Alexis. Lots of other people from church were there too.

Early Morning Pre-Parade
Last weekend was the OSU Homecoming. Friday night, the three of us went to Walk Around and met up with some old friends that had mvoed away. It was good to see Angie and Brian and to meet their new son Silas. Then Saturday morning, Josh's work had a float for the Homecoming Parade. The Float said, "Not a Cowboy? Get Therapy!" Then there was Pistol Pete giving therapy to a Baylor Bear. It was an awesome idea (they got 2nd place in their category). Here are some pictures before we started walking/riding. The picture of Josh and friend from work on a porch was taken because Josh was a sweetie: the girl is pregnant and really needed to go to the bathroom. So Josh went with her to the house (some stranger) and asked if she could use the bathroom and then waited for her. What a great guy! He remembered when I had to go to the bathroom ALL the time when I was pregnant!
