4-Wheeler Ride
Casen got to ride the 4-Wheeler for the first time over spring break. He loved it! His JJ, Mamaw, and Daddy took him for rides. Don't worry....they went really really slow!

Baby Chloe is here!
I'm excited that my cousins had their baby - Chloe Mae! Isn't that a beautiful name? And isn't she a beautiful baby??!!
My first nephew will be born in a couple of weeks! I can't wait!

Case Updates
Case is cutting another molar! Somebody told me those aren't usually coming in until 2 or 3 years old. Apparently, Case wants some molars so he can eat! (See prior post).
Case learned Saturday to push himself on his little tractor he can ride. He can only go backwards though right now. : )
He learned this morning how to rock on his horse. He is hilarious to watch! He liked it so much, he proceeded to eat part of his cereal while he rode his horse.

Multi-tasking and Hunger
After writing my last post, I had two observations:
1. I am a major multi-tasker. I think some of it comes from being a woman (sorry men!); women are usually just good at multi-tasking, and multi-tasking well. Part of the reason why I multi-task is due to the fact that I get easily bored and want to use my time wisely so I try to kill two birds with one stone. I also am learning not to multi-task when it comes to spending time with family. It's okay for me not to check email while I'm playing with Case. As I have said, I think I'm a big multi-tasker, but I am nothing compared to my students. I think with the technology advances, people are becoming more and more used to multi-tasking. I didn't have email until the summer after I graduated high school. The students I have now probably weren't even in junior high and were emailing people. They are used to being on the computer constantly and on the phone. It's no big deal to them to multi-task: taking notes while chatting while texting while writing a paper. Of course, most of us professors would argue that they aren't doing their job well if they are doing all that. But I think some of them can multi-task like that - and do their jobs effectively. Can it be rude though? Definitely. But I also like how one professor described it, "I saw one of my students emailing and taking notes during a presentation once...and he did it well - asked good questions after the presentation. I couldn't believe it! So I figure that I just need to step my game up a bit if I want them to pay attention to me while I'm lecturing." Even if you don't agree with that statement, there is some merit in it with this generation of students.
2. My other observation has nothing to do with my prior thought except that it occurred to me while I wrote the last post. Case is hungry all the time! Josh was worried he was just wanting to eat all the time at our house - that he's not really hungry. Josh asked our babysitter if he wants to eat all the time at her house. She replies with a dramatic nod of her head, "Yep - he continually goes to my cabinets and fridge and yells, 'Na!' "
Lovely.
I was initially relieved that he's not just eating at our house.
Then I was slightly embarrassed that my son was yelling and banging on things so he can have more food! Ha!
Case is quite the moocher though. He sees somebody eating, and he wants some of the food. Last night, our little friend Tulle who is 3 got a kick out of feeding Case. I think she was playing Mommy. Case of course loved it because he was fed continually.

Ambidextrous
I have this particular memory when I was in 5th grade. My teacher was talking about how her family and her were trying to brush their teeth the night before with their left hands. She said it was very difficult and some of them couldn't do it. So I remember the next time I brushed my teeth I tried to do it left-handed (I'm right-handed). I couldn't really do it, but after that, I would try to brush my teeth with my left-hand. Now I usually brush with switching off both hands, and sometimes I multi-task so I do something with my right hand and brush with my left hand. I'm ambidextrous when it comes to brushing my teeth. That's about it for ambidextrous talents though.
I found out yesterday why it was a good talent to develop.
Josh was working at a retreat, and I was trying to get Case and I both ready to leave for evening worship. Of course, I was running late on time. Pangaea
In Earth Science, my students recently took an exam about Plate Tectonics. One of the things they had to know was what Wegener's evidences were for his theory that Pangaea existed (Pangaea was his name for a supercontinent of all the continents fitting together). One of the evidences was that fossils matched across continents. One fossil in particular that we talked about was the Mesosaurus. Fossil remains have only been found on the southeastern coast of South America and southwestern coast of Africa - where the two continents fit together. It was postulated that the fossil remains are only found there because at one time, those two coasts had to have been closer together. If the Mesosaurus had been able to swim across an ocean, then fossil remains should be in other parts of the world, but they haven't been found. Here is what one witty student wrote though in answering the question about evidences for Pangaea existence:
"Dinosaurs - I don't which dinosaur. But, they found two same fossils on different continents. Scientists doubt that it had the ability to swim across oceans so it gives strong evidence.
Sidenote: Dinosaur could HAVE HAD some awesome determination."
I love to read something funny after grading a thick pile of exams.

On the Way....
We picked Grammy up and took her down to Chatty with us over Spring Break. We got to see Jourdan and Jarrett. It was good to catch up with all three of them.

My Mamaw's cousin lives next door to my mother-in-law. Small world!
We had a great time visiting with them.
First Haircut
After our night of Guitar Hero, we took Case for his first haircut. He didn't want to sit by himself, but he did sit on my lap. He laughed when the barber used the electric razor - it tickled him. He did really well - not surprisingly.
