Babies

Last month, we were up at the hospital in the maternity ward quite a lot. First, some good friends of ours had their first baby. We all adored Jaylee, and the boys enjoyed seeing the baby.
Liam was quite excited to see Tara again - can you tell?

Some other good friends of ours from Stillwater got sent to the same hospital when she went into pre-term labor. It was the same weekend that Jaylee was born. After 44 days of hospital bed rest, Sharbee and Wes had little baby girl Daydree. She was only 29 weeks and 2 lbs, but she is doing well. Last week, Josh and I got to visit little Daydree (no pictures yet). I was amazed by the NICU and all that our modern medicine can do. Be praying for our friends as they wait for Daydree to keep growing until they can take her home.

It's Been a Wild Week...

...and it's only Wednesday.

After Sunday morning worship, Josh and I took the boys to school for lunch and to hang fliers for the Wednesday night college series at church. Have you ever walked a college campus with a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old? Yeah, it takes awhile.

Then we rushed off back to church to prep for Rainbow Village, but we stopped for something to eat first. Liam got to hold the cheeseburger all by himself in the car. When I pulled up to the building, I turned around and found L Child with 3 pieces of the cheeseburger and covered in ketchup. I had to take off his sweater vest and slacks. Of course, I didn't have another outfit. So he went to church in a dress church and a diaper.
No shoes.
Yep, we were that family.

Thankfully, I was able to hide Liam in Rainbow Village until after church when we were leaving. Someone asked if Liam had Mountain Dew in his sippie cup because if he did, we could win the WT Award for the evening.
Whew! We dodged that bullet; he had water.

Last night the electricity went out right at bedtime so we had to calm the kids down in complete darkness.

I had a temporary crown put on last week, and I was still in pain yesterday.
So I got to have an unexpected root canal this morning.
Not fun.
I had to stop them twice when they got started on my tooth because I could still feel the pain. After half my face was numb (including my left ear), I finally couldn't feel anything. I was in more pain afterwards than I thought I would be, and I could barely talk. I had to miss a meeting and cancel my afternoon classes, but I had to grade some pchem homework first. Fastforward to tonight. I bribed my kids with Scooby Doo, and I'm blogging and watching my seasons of The Office because I feel pretty dizzy and tired from the pain meds. Here's to hoping for a better day tomorrow! I got a pchem exam to write!

And to avoid this post from being a downer, some GOOD things that happened this week...
Watching the boys enjoy the fountains on campus
Watching Case run laps around the clock tower on campus
Watching Liam watch students play basketball - and loving it!
Enjoying the "no-electricity" after the kids went to bed...taking time to just talk with Josh - with no TV distractions.
I got to blog today - A LOT! A nice thing to do when you feel tired and icky.

Riding the Big Boy Bike

After C got a turn with his new big boy bike, the kids took a turn. I got a pic of most of them on it.

Lots of Pics from Casen's Birthday Party

Casen's Tire Birthday Party Decorations

I hadn't posted pictures from C's birthday party so I wanted to share. He picked the theme "Tires" so Mom and I made the sign, I made the tablecloths, and Mom and Dad made the cake. The boys loved the cake! Who wouldn't?

Each kid got to pick which car they wanted to eat.

Getting My Craft On

I don't do a lot of crafts, but lately, I've been doing quite a bit.

Which means I've done 2 projects.

Here's the first one I did with Mom for Casen's Tire-themed birthday party.

Using tires from Casen's toy tractor, we made tire treads on t-shirts for the boys and signs to hang. Worked out well, and it was easy. We even had some help from the boys.

I'm finishing up my second project, but here it is.

Mom got the idea from Pinterest. You pick three different materials and cut out petal shapes. Then you arrange them into a flower pattern on a canvas. I did purples because i'm re-doing my bedroom currently. Mom did one with blues/greens - it's really pretty.

When It Snows...

this kid is thrilled.

this kid...not so much. standing in the garage and watching the snowflakes fall is just as nice.

reminds me of this (scroll down to see Liam's classic face of playing in the snow last year).

No, it hasn't snowed in March - at least not this year. These pictures were from January.

Snow Day! Well Kinda.

I haven't blogged in awhile. I have a bunch of photos to post. Funny stories to blog about. But it's a crazy semester. So maybe I'll catch up this summer. In the meantime, I wanted to blog about tonight so I won't forget what we did tonight. (When I signed into my blogger account, I had two past entries that I hadn't published yet. Enjoy the updates all you readers out there ha!)

Tonight, the boys and I had a make-believe snow day. We had a snowball fight, made a snowman (actually two), made snow angels, and watched the snowmen melt.

Here's to big imaginations! Case asked for snow all winter, and we only got a little this year (the last two years - we had A LOT!). I think that's why he wanted to pretend it was snowing. L Child joined in the fun right away.
Good times pretending we got to play in the snow.

Nerd Test

Are you a nerd? Read the following descriptions and see if any describe you.

Working Out
1. After you've been running on the treadmill awhile, you wonder if you were singing along with your IPOD or just mouthing the words.
You're pretty sure you were just mouthing words. But you wouldn't bet on it. And then you wonder if "just mouthing the words" is any better.

2. You do calculations in your head on the treadmill trying to figure out the "speed's units" based upon the minute miles.

Personal Appearance
1. Every so often you look down at your outfit and realize you don't really match. It looked okay in the dark bedroom that morning.

2. You pick outfits based upon whether or not you have lab that day. "Do you care if acid spills on those pants and ruins them?" is the question that runs through your head.

3. It's okay if you're having a bad hair day on a lab day. You're going to have to pull your hair up anyway. Now you have an excuse to wear a scrunchie.

Where Babies Come From

The other night Casen was busy writing in his new Cars notebook. He tells me, "I'm writing notes for my brothers and sisters."
I replied, "Oh really?"
Casen replied, "Yes, but they haven't been born yet."
I asked, "Where are they then if they haven't been born yet?"

Casen's answer? "Branson."

Yep, apparently babies come from Branson.

Happy Birthday Casen!

Casen turns four tomorrow! I can't believe he is already this old. I still remember carrying him in my womb when he had the hiccups and holding him right after he was born.

I love his passion and sense of humor. I'm proud to have him as my son. His prayers are special to hear. His energy is infectious. His laughter is music.

I can't believe he can ride a big boy bike now. Sigh. Time really is flying by.
